Life With
Paper
Aparna and Dinesh of Roda Notes on a quieter way to think clearly with organisers made in paper.

Everything around us has been redesigned. Cars, phones, desks, chairs—even the way we sit has evolved. But notebooks somehow stayed where they were.
WHAT’S IN
WHAT’S IN THIS NOOK?
Where days find shape
A focused place to think
The superpowers of paper
THIS NOOK?
How it all started
For Dinesh, the founder of Roda Notes, the fact that notebooks have remained unchanged felt odd. He grew up around printing machines, so paper was always close at hand. At one point, he even believed notebooks would disappear altogether. Screens would take over and paper would be dead.
That didn’t happen. If anything, the more our lives moved online, the more paper started to feel…necessary.

Why Paper Still Has A Place
Before Roda, organising life meant apps. Lots of them. Tools to plan, tools to track, tools to remind. Somehow, more time was spent arranging work than actually doing it.
The shift to paper came with a simple realisation: organising isn’t about doing more. It’s about knowing clearly what matters today.
Time-blocking, schedules, and lists aren’t just productivity hacks. They were ways to reduce mental noise.
Paper still does that. Writing slows you down just enough to make sense of things.

Also, when you give your thinking its own physical space, separate from where you scroll, text, watch, you take it more seriously. You commit to it.
From there Roda Notes developed into a collection of paper tools for clarity and efficiency, rather than just notebooks.
A Daily Rhythm That’s Actually Livable
The routine is refreshingly simple. Start the day by looking back at yesterday. Then write down what needs attention today. No pressure to finish everything, just aim for progress.
Even 70% is enough. What matters is knowing what today asks of you.
Keeping it simple
- Tasknote for daily work and chores
- Notepad for loose thoughts and quick ideas
- A5 Note for journaling and personal writing
- Calendar to see time stretch ahead
- Pocket Note for thoughts that show up mid-walk, mid-commute and not neatly at the desk.
The idea is simple: use paper where your thinking naturally happens.

The Small Things Matter
Paper isn’t neutral. Its colour, texture, and weight change how long you can write and how calm your eyes feel.
That’s why Roda uses a softer, natural-shade paper that is easier to sit with, and less demanding than stark white. And why only the bright yellow Habit Tracker comes in colour. Because they’re meant to be seen—on walls, mirrors, desks. The notebooks, on the other hand, feel calm and make writing feel effortless.
A glimpse behind the scenes.
Blending Paper and AI
The Firstdraft Note by Roda Notes is about taking your handwritten draft to the next stage of development with the help of a custom ChatGPT workspace. Most of us already write things down, click photos, and forget them in our galleries. This simply builds on that behaviour—letting handwritten thoughts move forward instead of getting lost.

Going Forward With Paper
There are faster ways to move through life, but walking is still important. In the same way, paper has a rhythm that still matters.
You don’t “go back” to pen and paper. You move forward, thoughtfully, intentionally.
